The summer is hot and humid the winter cold and rainy. There are areas of the mission that in the fall and winter it can rain all day everyday, sometimes a torrential downpour. It can sometimes snow as well, but it doesn’t accumulate.
You will want some kind of waterproof Chelsea boot like Blundstones as well as a couple pairs of comfortable shoes.
You will want good gear for the rain. Shoes should be waterproof. You will want an excellent rain coat and a very sturdy umbrella that can withstand very windy conditions.
During the summer it is hot and muggy and there is very little air conditioning there. A fan is nice for hot nights.
Elders do wear blue shirts as well as white in both short and long sleeves. Ties are optional when not at church or a conference (no ties make missionaries more approachable).
Sisters wear slacks frequently along with dresses and skirts.
Get a warm winter coat (bring or buy there). In the winter, layering is super important in staying warm. Thermals, hats, gloves and scarves are worn.
France is known for fashion, so missionaries often prefer to do a lot of shopping there. They have everything you need. Pack light.
Luggage needs to be able to hold up (especially the wheels) along cobblestone streets. Having light suitcases and a backpack is ideal for this mission.
The have sales 2 times a year where clothing is 1/2 off and you can get great clothing (including suits and dresses) for great deals.
Amazon France is a good shipping option as shipping from the U.S. has outrageous customs fees that equal the hundreds of dollars it cost to send the package.
In the city, the metro subway system is used to get around.
