They have 4 seasons that feel dry. In the summer it can get up to 80-90, but it is a dry heat. The winters are COLD and dry. It can get into negative temperatures, but feel even colder with the wind chill. Missionaries are instructed to stay inside if the temperatures reach -25 or have a wind chill making exposure unsafe, so missionary appropriate activities are nice to have to keep from being bored.
A good variety in clothing warmth is helpful. Wait to buy a winter coat until there. They take up a lot of space in a suitcase and they have weather appropriate gear there, or it can easily be shipped. Thermal garments are super nice. Also, heated gloves and something to cover your ears.
ECCO shoes have been recommended highly. Also a boot like Timberlands or Blundstones for the icy conditions.
This mission has no bikes, as the area is very spread out. They are not as hard on shoes as others places.
