The Visa application is quite a process, so start ASAP and make it the first priority. They do A LOT of walking, so good, comfy shoes is important.They wear them out, so 3-4 pairs between dress shoes and black tennis shoes. Cole Haans and Eccos have held up nicely. Black tennis shoes for pday. There are not a lot of good shoe purchasing places, so send the shoes with the missionary.
Buy a good waterproof bag.
There is a water purifyer in every apartment to refill a water bottle.

Most parents send their Elders with at least 1 suit (most countries in South America only wear suits to church and meetings) and around 8–10 golf pants. Families are sending more shirts because of heat and humidity — 12–14 is the average. Note for Sisters serving in Brazil: feminine hygiene products are expensive there and tampons are often considered taboo. Be prepared to send a good supply with your Sister Missionary.
