Mississippi Jackson Mission

mississippi map outline

Climate: long, hot, humid summers and short, mild to cool winters. A simple fleece pull-over or light coat is good for the winter. A good rain jacket is very nice. It does rain a lot there. A rain coat with a zip out liner is very handy, so you can have something warmer for the cooler season, and something light for the hot, rainy times.

The summers are pretty hot and humid, so short sleeves are pretty important. Shirts like the Serve brand help in the humidity with vented sides. Sisters perfer to wear light, flowy dresses in the summer.
Elders request black or dark colored golf pants, as the other colors show sweat marks.

Bring extra garments (mesh or stretch cotton) because sometimes you end up taking a couple showers a day. The new style garments are game changers.

There is a pretty fair split of biking, walking, and cars in this mission.

Region Recommendations
Serve
Serve $50–$55/shirt

Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
