Colombia Bogotá South Mission
Colombia · South America
Colombia map outline

There are hot areas and cold areas.

You will not need blue shirts. You will need clothing for the colder areas- sweaters and a blanket. Buy the blanket in Columbia.

You walk a ton, especially in the hotter areas. Shoes take a beating. You need shoes that can last. Men’s shoe size 12+ is hard to find in Colombia. You will also want good Pday shoes as you play a lot of soccer or basketball.
Elders: recommended brands are ECCO hiking shoes and Dr. Martens.
You also need good quality socks.

You receive a filtered water bottle and an extra filter on the mission.

You do not need to bring an everyday carry a bag at all. The mission will give you a shoulder bag when you arrive. However in many of the other areas outside of Bogota, a backpack is preferred.

Missionaries are fed big meals by members at midday.

You can send things through Amazon with this address:

Notes about the South America region

Most parents send their Elders with at least 1 suit (most countries in South America only wear suits to church and meetings) and around 8–10 golf pants. Families are sending more shirts because of heat and humidity — 12–14 is the average. Note for Sisters serving in Brazil: feminine hygiene products are expensive there and tampons are often considered taboo. Be prepared to send a good supply with your Sister Missionary.

Mission-Specific Recommendations
CRZ YOGA (Lululemon Dupe) ~$45

Along with Under Armour, these may be the most recommended pant for Elders. They have 4-way stretch, are quick drying, and lightweight. Many say these actually last longer and look nearly identical at a fraction of the price of some of the pricier brands like Lululemon.

Region Recommendations
Serve
Serve $50–$55/shirt

Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
