There is a six month rainy season. It is mostly warm, but can get a little cooler, especially in the mornings and evenings.
There are areas that are jungle and areas that are city.
This is a walking mission, often in rougher terrain. Regular dress shoes cannot hold up to walking 12-15 miles a day in the rain. You will want some regular dress shoes for meetings, but the others should be rugged.
You need good quality socks as well. Get moisture wicking wool socks.
Elders: Dr. Martens and ECCO hiking shoes are most often recommended.
You will want clothing that dries quickly, as it often gets wet in the rain. Some prefer to get rain pants that go over your dress pants.
Elders: golf pants and mostly short sleeved shirts. Alimens & Gentle shirts are recommended for drying quickly and holding up well.
Sisters: you are not allowed to wear pants or slacks except on Pday even if the paperwork says otherwise.
There are some cooler areas of this mission, so a couple sweaters are nice to have. You can purchase sweaters there, if needed.
A rain coat with a zip out liner like a 3-in-1 jacket is best especially when it gets colder.
A waterproof bag is super important.
You will want a headlamp and a solar lantern.
The city has excellent shopping, the outlying areas do not have as much, but you can get everything you need.

Most parents send their Elders with at least 1 suit (most countries in South America only wear suits to church and meetings) and around 8–10 golf pants. Families are sending more shirts because of heat and humidity — 12–14 is the average. Note for Sisters serving in Brazil: feminine hygiene products are expensive there and tampons are often considered taboo. Be prepared to send a good supply with your Sister Missionary.
Along with Under Armour, these may be the most recommended pant for Elders. They have 4-way stretch, are quick drying, and lightweight. Many say these actually last longer and look nearly identical at a fraction of the price of some of the pricier brands like Lululemon.
Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
