Summers are ridiculously HOT and wet. There are heavy downpours and high humidity. Winters are drier and mild. It rarely dips below 60.
You do not need any blue shirts.
It is too hot for sweaters or coats.
Elders: You will want light, moisture wicking golf pants. You hardly ever use a suit, so get a cheaper washable one and save your money for good shoes. You will need about 10-12 short sleeved shirts and only one long sleeved shirt.
Sisters: light loose clothing is best.
Get good quality shoes and invest in quality socks. Insoles for comfort might be a great option to look into as well. (Johnston & Murphy and Dansko recommended to hold up well)
Also bring shower shoes. Slides are nice so you can also wear them around the apartment.
A super light weight rain jacket is needed.
Pack 2 quick dying microfiber towels.
Bring medications. Allergy, probiotics, ibuprofen, DayQuil, NyQuil, pepto, tums and cough drops.
Also bring deodorant for your mission.

A comfy travel pillow (the mission provides one, but it’s not great) and pillow case
C & N types of adapters
Bug repellent lotion

Most parents send their Elders with at least 1 suit (most countries in South America only wear suits to church and meetings) and around 8–10 golf pants. Families are sending more shirts because of heat and humidity — 12–14 is the average. Note for Sisters serving in Brazil: feminine hygiene products are expensive there and tampons are often considered taboo. Be prepared to send a good supply with your Sister Missionary.
This is a very comfortable, durable shoe that missionaries serving all over have loved!
7 inch Rechargeable Fan. These have been recommended for missionaries serving in Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and Africa. They help keep you cooler at night, but also help keep bugs like mosquitos off at night too.
The power goes out frequently, so it is nice to have a solar power fan.
Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
