Australia map outline

The summer is hot and humid, and is very rainy. It can get chilly in the winter because of the rain, so bring a warm jacket and light raincoat.

This mission covers a huge area. Missionaries have cars and bikes. Because of the large area, it is not feasible to walk. Transfers are sometimes done by plane, so luggage restrictions might be a factor.

There is a distribution center, so if extra garments are needed, they are available. The Brisbane Temple has limited supply of temple clothing to loan, so missionaries should bring their own.

It is hot and muggy in the summer. Tight fitting clothing makes you feel even hotter, so find loose fitting things that are breathable. You will sweat A LOT.

Elders: only wear suits on Sunday and to conferences, so don’t spend a lot of money on a suit.
Shirts recommended for Elders the most are: Serve and &Collar. You will only need 1 or 2 long sleeved shirts, the rest should be short sleeved. Also send missionaries with light-weight golf pants.
Sisters prefer to wear loose dresses in the heat.
Sweaters are needed in the winter.

You will also want some extra clothing for service days.

Bring a hat for the sun, wide brimmed. Bucket hats are not allowed. Drink electrolytes. Often you aren't aware of how much hydration is lost in sweating.

The mission provides all bedding, household items needed, and cleaning products for their flats.

Medications that are common in the U.S. can only be gotten by prescription there, so bring cold medicine and ibuprofen with you.

Most everything can be purchased there.

They really like KFC there.

Serve

Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
