Climate:They have pretty moderate temperatures year-round, typically varying from 42°F to 73°F, with ocean breezes. Summer is HOT and HUMID. Rain paints and a very good rain jacket are a must. WATERPROOF bags(small, BLACK backpacks ok and used daily) are very important too. Sometimes the streets flood, so there is walking in calf deep water. There is no heat in the apartments, so a blanket, warm pajamas or a hoodie and sweats can help keep you warm.
A shoe dryer is also recommended frequently.
They walk a lot in this mission. The mission allows black tennis shoes for every day walking, so most Elders and Sisters opt for wearing these for comfort.
With the summer heat, dresses are cooler for Sisters, and quick drying golf pants for Elders.
They do have pouches that can fit under clothing to avoid robberies. It is a good idea for only one of the companionship to have their phone out at a time, so if they do get robbed, the other person still has their stuff.
They do have shopping and some familiar stores in the city, so you can find most items that you might need.
You cannot take any sudafed (and medications like it) into Chile. It is not allowed to even have in your luggage.

Most parents send their Elders with at least 1 suit (most countries in South America only wear suits to church and meetings) and around 8–10 golf pants. Families are sending more shirts because of heat and humidity — 12–14 is the average. Note for Sisters serving in Brazil: feminine hygiene products are expensive there and tampons are often considered taboo. Be prepared to send a good supply with your Sister Missionary.
Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
