The weather is extremely hot and humid, with only 3 weeks where it was cold, like in the 40s. A coat is not necessary. There are occasional rain storms that dump a crazy amount of rain, so bring a waterproof jacket. Walk a lot in Bolivia. Several pairs of really good shoes because you sometimes can walk up to 10 miles a day. Also get really good socks. Light weight golf pants that are stretchy are nice and less hot. Credit cards do not work, Debit only. Take two cards and keep them separate in case of loss or theft. You cannot really mail things to this mission, so it is better to send them with everything they will need initially. A water filtration bottle is especially helpful as well.

Most parents send their Elders with at least 1 suit (most countries in South America only wear suits to church and meetings) and around 8–10 golf pants. Families are sending more shirts because of heat and humidity — 12–14 is the average. Note for Sisters serving in Brazil: feminine hygiene products are expensive there and tampons are often considered taboo. Be prepared to send a good supply with your Sister Missionary.
Serve shirts have a ventilation panel in the side of the shirt making them noticeably more breathable. Missionaries serving in hot or humid places absolutely RAVE about this feature. The most popular shirt for hot-climate missions, for sure.
